Hello Everyone,
Each year, the Natural Resources Council of Maine hosts the People'sChoice Awards to recognize people/groups that are working towards abetter environment. We have just learned that the Climate Action Clubis a finalist for this year's award.
Now we need YOUR help to win. The award is determined by a publicvote. We have between now and September 18 to spread the word andgather votes for the CAC.
Why is this important? Because it displays the power of youth activismand the vital role we can play in changing our schools, communities, and the world. It also spreads the message of First Here, ThenEverywhere: no student, school, or community is too small to have animpact and see the benefits of their work spread across the state andnation.
So, here's how you vote:
1) Go to https://secure2.convio.net/nrcm/site/SSurvey?SURVEY_ID=1900&ACTION_REQUIRED=URI_ACTION_USER_REQUESTS
2) On the left-hand side in the 'Member Login' Box, click REGISTER
3) Register
4) Go back to the first URL
5) Vote for Chloe Maxmin and the CAC
6) PASS ON THE WORD TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!! Please forward this emailto your distribution lists. Let's mobilize the biggest vote NRCM has ever seen.
We're counting on you to reach out and network! It takes 1 minute, and you only have to vote once.
Thanks!

Here's my train of thought on why the environmental movement is the most important movement today:
Take idling. Idling for 5 seconds emits 300 lbs of CO2. This CO2 reacts with toxins in the atmosphere, creating pollutants that can cause or trigger asthma. As more people idle, the rate of asthma goes up, which means that medical expenses go up, which means there are more government deficits, which means there is less money for welfare programs, green programs, and other important federal expenses.
So wouldn't the solution be to just stop idling? Yes. It's all connected, and it all starts with the environment. Save the environment, save the world.

The CAC raised $1000 in response to the $1000 challenge grant put up by Chloe Maxmin. We also received a $1500 grant from a state program. PLUS we received an extra $1800 in donations! This will enable us to buy $4300 worth of reusable bags...or 2000 bags.
We are buying polypropalene bags made from 20% recycled materials. One side of the bag will have a logo created by the CAC, and the other will have our sponsors' names/logos.
We will sell the bags in town, and all proceeds will go towards buying more bags!
